Pecha Kucha:
What Makes a Good Photograph?
Assignment: Our assignment was to create a Pecha Kucha about anything of our choice. A Pecha Kucha is presented as a powerpoint/slide deck presentation traditionally kept within a time of six minutes and thirty seconds
Approach: I chose to base my Pecha Kucha around my photography, and what I like to call a “Perfect Miss”. A perfect miss in my eyes is a photo that isn’t necessarily a shot included on the front page on a magazine, but rather one that is timed so imperfectly perfect that it is almost comical. It’s a spin on the rigid requirements of my job that forces us to consider what a good image really is. Is it a well-timed celebration, or can a good photograph be more than a show-stopping moment?
Result: The result required me to look through over 20,000 images that I store in my current database and search for those “perfect misses”. It was a wonderful reflection into both how my photography has evolved over the years, and the things I’ve decided to focus on
